Awk Phansa, marking the end of Buddhist Lent, falls on 25th October 2026, most notably on the full moon of the eleventh lunar month. In Phuket, devotees gather at temples across the island, with the revered Wat Chalong at the heart of the celebrations. Monks conclude their three-month retreat with chanting ceremonies, merit-making and the offering of saffron robes, flowers and alms. Locals release candle-lit krathongs onto water and light incense to honour the Buddha and cleanse misfortune. Families dress in white, visit temples together and make donations, embracing a serene atmosphere of gratitude, renewal and spiritual reflection across the island.
